31 days of ‘Out There’ : Loving one another with purpose…

BeingMissional_31daysv2So, I love Jesus. I love writing. I love being missional. So for one crazy month I am going to attempt to combine the three by taking part in ‘Write 31 Days‘ and writing about being missional every day for 31 days. I say attempt because let’s face it, it will be a challenge… But I’ve been wanting to write more about mission and being incarnational for a while so why not do it all in one go, right?

Yes I know I’m crazy and I can’t promise they will all be super long posts, but I hope they will be interesting, insightful, and above all encourage you to get ‘out there’. Out There? yes because that’s what we need to do more of – get out there, outside the walls of the church and share Jesus with those around us. I don’t mean by the old ‘bashing people over the head with a bible’ tactic, but by being with people, helping people, coming alongside people, with the attitude and heart of Jesus.

In John 13 we see Jesus’ ‘new command’ to ‘love one another’ and not just that but he says ‘By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another’. Someone said to me recently, aren’t we supposed to look different as Christians? Aren’t we supposed to stand out? Well the bible says it is by demonstrating love, by loving one another, that people will know that we are followers of Jesus. If that isn’t instruction enough I don’t know what is…

I look forward to expanding on that over the next 31 days (eek!) and what it might look like in practice. So here’s where we start, hope you enjoy the posts. Do comment, ask questions and generally get stuck in, it’s more fun if people are chatting along!

Surely you’re being missional by being here?

But I look forward to being challenged, amused, entertained or perplexed over the next 31 days.
